[0524新闻]RZA为电影《杀死比尔》制作音乐

Beat genius and Wu-Tang founder RZA has opted to shift his musical talents from rap to scoring blockbuster movies. His most highly touted movies thus far have been Quentin Tarantino’s “Kill Bill: Volumes 1 & 2,” but he’s had past successes and a new movie. Advertisement Presently, he and Wu-cohort GZA are featured in the new indie flick “Coffee And Cigarettes,” which stars Bill Murray and Kate Blanchett. He recently told CNN that his entry into music has allowed him to pay more attention to the movie genre in general, specifically action flicks. “I'm an action film lover more than anything, and to me, most action films have trashy music. It doesn't really match the scene. It's some techno going on, and it's not moving with the movement of the film or the movement of the action,” RZA said. “I've been complaining about that for years. I think the people who approach it, they don't know action films, and they don't know music either.” RZA’s foray into movies started in 1999 when he scored the martial arts-themed movie Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai, a cult classic movie that starred Forrest Whittaker. But, RZA’s work truly came to fruition when he was nominated for a Grammy Award for his work on Kill Bill: Volume 1 in the category Best Compilation Soundtrack Album for a Motion Picture, Television or Other Visual Media. But the accolades didn’t stop there as he was also nominated for a BAFTA Anthony Asquith Award for Film Music and an award for Best Original Film Score by the Online Film Critics Society. The Staten Island legend’s lore hasn’t been limited to producing scores, because he’s also slated to flex his comedic skills on the “Dave Chappelle Show” and, later this month, will be in the upcoming comedy “Soul Plane.” He is also slated to score the third installment of Wesley Snipe’s “Blade” series
